We’re in a diner this morning grabbing some much needed coffee… last night we were up for about 3 hours during a severe lightning storm that struck here in Imperial, Nebraska. Fortunately there were some public bathrooms in the park near our tent and when the storm started getting a little scary we took to the bathrooms and hunkered down there for the rest of the night. Neither of us has ever seen a storm like that. The lightning was nearly constant and the thunder just kept rumbling the whole time, clapping loudly enough every couple minutes to shake our concrete bunker.
So this morning we’re a little extra tired, but we’ll ride on a bit- down towards McCook, Nebraska. There are supposed to be more thunderstorms today, so it’ll probably be a short ride. Anyway, hopefully we’ll have some internet tonight and be able to update you with some photos!
Update: Here’s a shot of where we spent the stormy night.
Right there on the floor between those two concrete walls. Luxury storm shelter accommodations.
